Monitoring DNS in cPanel

cPanel Webhosting

What is DNS Monitoring?

DNS monitoring tools in cPanel allow you to gather important information about your domain’s DNS settings and network connections. These tools can help you identify a domain’s IP address, its DNS settings, or the route data takes to reach your server.

How to Look Up DNS Information

The Domain Lookup tool lets you retrieve DNS details about your domain, such as its IP address and mail server information. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Open the Domain Lookup section in cPanel.
  2. Enter the domain name you want to check in the field labelled Enter a domain to look up.
  3. Click Look Up to view the results.

What You’ll See:

  • The IP address linked to the domain.
  • Information about the domain’s mail servers.
  • Additional DNS data displayed under the “Zone Information” section.

How to Trace the Route to Your Server

The Trace Route tool shows the path data takes from your computer to your website’s server. It can help identify connection delays or routing issues by displaying the servers (or “hops”) the data passes through.

Steps to Use Traceroute:

  1. Go to the Trace Route section in cPanel.
  2. Click Trace to begin.

The Trace Route feature is currently disabled for cPanel-hosted accounts on Rackhost. If you need this functionality, please contact Rackhost’s support team for assistance:
