The cPanel Interface: Key Tools and Sections

BasicscPanel Webhosting

The cPanel dashboard is your main control centre for managing your hosting account, giving you easy access to essential tools and settings. By default, the Tools page serves as your starting point, where you can efficiently oversee different areas of your hosting environment.

The cPanel interface is organised into these main sections:

Main Menu and Navigation Bar

The main menu on the left side of the page lets you easily return to the Tools page from anywhere within the cPanel interface. It also gives you quick access to tools like the WP Toolkit, which streamlines WordPress installation and management.

In the top-right corner, you’ll find the navigation bar, which includes your account details, a search bar, and several key settings:

  • Search Bar: Quickly locate specific tools or settings.
  • Notifications: A red dot on the bell icon indicates a message, warning, or account update; click the icon to view.
  • Password & Security: Change your cPanel password here.
  • Change Language: Select your preferred language for the cPanel interface.
  • Contact Information: Adjust notification preferences and add emails for account alerts.
  • Reset Page Settings: Revert the page layout and settings to their original state.
  • Log Out: End your session by clicking the log-out icon.

At the centre of the interface, the Tools section displays settings and options grouped by category, such as Email, Files, Databases, Domains, Metrics, Security, Software, Advanced, and Settings. You can personalise the layout by dragging and dropping these groups to reorder them as needed.

General Information And Statistics Sidebars

This area shows important details about your cPanel account:

  • Current User: Displays the username currently logged in.
  • Primary Domain: The main domain tied to this account, where you can manage SSL/TLS certificates by selecting SSL/TLS Status.
  • Shared IP Address: The IP address associated with your cPanel hosting plan.
  • Home Directory: Indicates the file directory path of your home folder on the server.
  • Last Login IP Address: Shows the IP address from which the most recent login occurred.
  • User Analytics ID: A unique identifier (UUID) for tracking your account.
  • Theme: Lists the active cPanel theme, with options to switch if other themes are available.
  • Server Information: Provides key specifications about the server hosting your account.

Below this section, the Statistics panel outlines important usage metrics for your account, such as the number of additional domains and databases (e.g., MySQL® databases), as well as the disk space used by email accounts or hosting files (Disk Usage).
