The Automatic Domain Renewal feature can be a great help to manage your domain renewals.
This function can be activated for any domain, ensuring that when your domain nears its expiry date, it will automatically renew using the credits available in your Rackhost account. If your account doesn’t have enough credits, the system will notify you about the upcoming expiry, allowing you to top up your credits or settle the renewal through an invoice. When you add credits, the system will automatically check if you have any unpaid domains set for automatic renewal, and if sufficient credits are available, the domain will be renewed.
By default, domain renewal is set to manual. In this mode, your domain won’t renew automatically, even if you have enough credits in your Rackhost account. However, you will still receive renewal reminders and can renew the domain at any time before it expires, either by reactivating the automatic renewal option or by paying the invoice linked to the domain. You can pay the invoice using credits by selecting the Payment with credits button in the Billing and Credits section.
If you are within 30 days of the domain’s expiry, you will need to have enough credits in your Rackhost account to reactivate the automatic renewal option.
The system will issue an invoice 30 days before your domain’s expiry. If automatic renewal is enabled and you have enough credits in your account, the domain will renew. If you change your mind and no longer wish to renew the domain, you can cancel it before the original expiry date, and the credits will be refunded.
To cancel a domain, simply go to the Domains section, find the relevant domain, and click on the purple Details button next to it. At the bottom of the page, click the red Cancel button. This will stop further renewal notices, and the domain will be deleted upon expiry.
