To manage the records for your domain, log into your Rackhost account and navigate to the DNS Zones section. Select the domain you want to edit and then click on Edit records.
- Create new records
- Modify existing records
- Delete records by clicking the red X
If you need to add or edit a record, a pop-up window will appear. Here’s how to fill in the details.
Enter the hostname (1), such as “www.” (in case you add new records it’s recommended to set them with and without the “www.” prefix to ensure visitors can reach your site both ways). Choose the type of record (A, CNAME, etc.) (2) and then enter the server’s IP address (3) where your website is hosted. Finally, set the TTL value to 3600 (4), which is the recommended default.
After entering the data for the records, click on the Create button (5).
Note: When you register a new domain, the default A record will point to the parking IP 91.227.139.235. To change this:
- Click the Edit button next to the automatically created record
- In the pop-up window, change the IP address (3) to your desired value (for Rackhost hosting, use the IP or hostname shown in your hosting details)
- Set the TTL to 3600 (4)
