The Domain Redirect menu is located under the Services section of your Rackhost user account. The Domain Redirect service allows you to redirect an unlimited number of domains for an annual fee. To begin, click on the green Order service button. Once the payment is complete, the subscription will be activated, and you’ll be able to set up your domain redirects.
To add a new domain redirect, click on the New redirect button, then select the domain you wish to redirect from the Source URL drop-down menu. In the Target URL field, enter the web address to which the domain should be redirected. Once this is set, click the Create button.
In the Advanced settings, you can configure additional options. You can choose whether the redirect is permanent (301 redirect) or temporary (302 redirect). Under Path, you can specify if you want the domain to be redirected to a subdomain, for example. By marking Transferring parameters, you can decide if the domain should retain specific URL parameters. For subdomains, you can choose whether to redirect only the www subdomain, all subdomains, or neither.
For the redirect to function properly, ensure the domain’s records point to the IP address 91.227.138.26. You can adjust this in the DNS Zones menu on the left. Click on the Edit records button next to the relevant domain. If an A record already exists, click the pencil icon to edit it. If no A record has been entered, click New record to add one.
Note that you will need two A records: one with www and one without, both pointing to the IP address 91.227.138.26.
